Move With Us mum to ride 250 miles in five days for cancer charities

A keen cyclist is gearing up for the ride of her life across Kenya for charity.

Kim Pedlar, 39, will set off on Saturday for a 250-mile, five-day journey across Kenya in East Africa to raise money for three cancer charities.

Kim, who works in vendor services at Move With Us,St Ives was inspired to undertake the challenge by her own experiences of cancer.

“Many of my friends have had breast cancer scares in the last few years,” she said. “It showed me that cancer can effect anyone, even those closest to you, and I just wanted to do my bit to help.”

Mum of three Kim has been in training for 18 months ahead of Saturday's start date, and has previously completed endurance rides from Cambridge to London and Cambridge to Norwich.

She will be joined by her sister-in-law, Angie Wilson, 40, also from Somersham. The ride is an Action for Charity event, and will support Breast Cancer Care, Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action.

“This bike ride is helping some very worthy causes and is also the challenge of a lifetime,” she explained.

Caroline Hart, Move With Us' Human Resources Director, added: “We would like to wish Kim the very best of luck on this fantastic personal challenge. Kim has also kicked off our  charity challenge for 2012 which will see staff members from across Move with Us aim to raise £75,000 for charity.
