The public back mansion tax

The Metro has recently reported that two thirds of people surveyed back mansion tax on homes worth £1 million or more.

Despite being ruled out by the Prime Minister and George Osborne, the Lib Dems are still in favour of mansion tax. 57% of respondents from the Metro’s recent survey also backed the tax.
A further 57% support higher taxation on ‘foreign owned second homes’ and 45% back taxes on empty properties. 70% of those polled would also be in favour of a £100,000 fine imposed on millionaire tax dodgers.

A Lib Dem spokesman said: ‘It’s good to hear that people support a mansion tax… Liberal Democrats have long favoured a mansion tax and it is something we will continue to campaign for, in government and at the next general election.’
