Investor Profile - Claudio Rois

Investor Profile - Claudio Rois

Over the next few months, we will be profiling each member of our investor team. We want our clients to get to know the people responsible for sourcing, selling and managing the developments we promote.

First on the list is international project director, Claudio Rois (pictured). Born in Argentina and fluent in a number of languages, Claudio is the man on the front line; sourcing new developments across the globe and testing them for their robustness and potential returns.

What is your previous occupational experience?

I have been lucky enough to have quite a varied background which has given me a strong grounding in the diplomacy and financial awareness required for my role. I have worked in banking and finance, land management, overseas investments and for the Foreign Affairs department of the Argentine Government.

What are your hobbies and interests?

In my spare time I enjoy sailing, shooting and reading.

How long have you worked for movewithus?

I have worked for movewithus as an independent consultant since 2004 and I was officially incorporated into the company as International Project Director in November 2006.

What do you enjoy about your job?

I love to discover new developments that nobody else is offering to the market and expanding the international movewithus network overseas. We are, through our partners, operating successfully in Spain, Argentina, Croatia and Singapore. In the next twelve months, we are looking to establish new bases in Berlin, Moscow and Sweden.

What is your opinion of the current investor market?

I don’t think that there is such a thing as an ‘investor market’. There are many different investments that are suited to individual needs. I think that when you offer the right product to the right people, you are creating your own market. At movewithus Investor, everybody is a potential investor, regardless of how much money they have to spend.

What is your top tip for potential investors?

First, keep informed of what is going on in the property market and the global economy. Sometimes, as shown in the last few months, if you only keep your attention on one single area of the economy, ‘you can’t see the wood for the trees’. Second, always stay open to new ideas and proposals.

How do you think the market will change in the next few years?

I think it will become more conservative, with investors looking for less risk and more sustainability. In the short term, many mortgage investors will be out of the market for a few years due to the current turmoil in the mortgage markets. There are many variables involved that might make it too risky to invest using your own equity to finance a new investment unless it looks particularly robust. The winners will be those investing real money, regardless of whether it is a small amount.
