Golden opportunities - created by Taylor Wimpey merger

In one of the biggest mergers in recent times, leading residential developers George Wimpey and Taylor Woodrow have combined to create the UK’s biggest homebuilder. With the takeover estimated at around £5billion, this new partnership aims for the completion of 22,000 UK homes per annum, with an additional 9,000 housing completions scheduled for North America each year. These developments in the housing business can be considered positive news for movewithus.
The new company has created a single UK corporate head office, amalgamating central operations for homebuilding, thereby increasing efficiency. This reshuffle has led to several regions being closed or absorbed, with Wimpey losing both North London and Central.Although we might expect such restructuring to result in considerable redundancies, the company have limited job cuts to less than 5% (approx. 700 jobs.)
